I was born “Wandering Cloud. Through my art, I began to embody the name my mother gave me in her native tongue. I wander from medium to medium on a journey to find my identity. Sometimes I am a scattered thunderstorm of pen and ink, and other times I cascade into pastel streams of watercolor. The Nguyễn sisters are inspired by their roots in An Giang, Việt Nam and the realities of living in Lawrence, Massachusetts during this arts revolution. Their namesake comes from the legacy of revolutionary Vietnamese women: Hai Bà Trưng. As sisters who prioritize their healing and the power of creativity in this process, they are working to build a brand that inspires healing in others through their crafts.

Gladys Wangeci Gitau-Damaskos (she/they)

Gladys is a Kenyan-born writer, artist, designer, teacher and activist from Lawrence, MA. She is the author of the book “there's the truth then there's other things” and is currently working on her second collection which will feature poems and doodles that came to life while quarantining during this weird year. When Gladys (or Mx. Gitau) is not teaching Humanities to her high schoolers, or doodling Gladys can be found on her couch next to her husband, William, and her tortoises, Sakis and Recho, tweeting memes into the void.

Lujo was launched in 2019 after many attempts to find ideal skin care products that are both natural and affordable. My name is Bảo Trân Nguyễn. I specialize in calligraphy and hand lettering. Products range from personalized envelopes to journal covers! Everything is handmade and I use recycled materials. Writing letters has played a major role in my healing process and being able to say how I feel about an experience helps me reflect on my thinking process as well as why I felt hurt or upset. I am able to focus on creating beautiful cards for people to process through, mending their inner turmoil and relationship with others.

In Kiswahili the term "Upendo" means love. The love for culture, the love for art and the love for fashion. Upendo Clothing; is more than a fashion statement. Through our movement we will introduce to our audience how to break fashion and cultural barriers by introducing different aspects of fashion in unexpected ways. UpendoClothing began in 2013. 

The love for life, art, fashion and education are what we incorporate in every seasonal collection. There is a duo of gifted women who coordinate Upendo;  Kamau and Swaby.
